Chambray and Harem

Animal print has been in fashion since very long. They have been coming in skirts, dresses, flats and in pants, though they are a staple in your closet pairing them could be a task apart from solid's (especially something other than black and white).

Recently for our day trip in this scorching heat to Henry Cowell state park I decided to wear these pants with Dark Chambray button down shirt. A very simple and pleasant combination and not to mention very cool and comfortable attire for a hot California day.

Henry Cowell is a redwood state park with beautiful touching the sky tall trees, so its windy and chilly always :) They have beautiful park to play have parties, baby showers, birthdays and awesome steam engine train.

Did not have high hopes from this combination but it turned out to be great pairing as evident in the pictures.

Harem pants and great for summers and especially this one which is 100% cotton and silky soft pjyama material which are good to wear for travel, day picnics or for sunny days & colder nights(just like CA).

I bought these harem pants a while ago and paired it only with few plain solids but recently I have started pairing it with prints and different solid shirts and the outcome was definitely a thumbs up!!

Pants similar/ top/ shoes.

So what do you think about the combination? Thumbs up or thumbs down, do let me know.

Thanks for reading!!

Lake Tahoe [cont..]

Day 2

Mr.Simplyxstylish decided to find and surprise us with this new location, The Sand Harbor Beach at Incline Village Nevada. Located just few miles away from Nevada-Cali border. A serene beauty, indeed!!

We went just before summer started so were lucky as it was not too crowded. Its a pretty far stretched beach with a lot of parking space.
It was a delight for my eyes to look at the beautiful multi colored water, they say "Water is just the reflection of God's mood!!", well it sure is.

A selfie pic with my handsome dude!!

This is how he showed his love to papa for choosing such beautiful beach. Muuuaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!

 Some mommy time, yeah!!

Mr.V spent some more quality time with GrandMa who was about to leave for India in few days. Miss you Grandma, esp by Ma, Love Mr.V

Mr.Simplyxstylish exploring the beach when our cutie was napping.

This was the beautiful house(Mom posing) we rented nearby downtown which was great for easy commute. This house was great and Mr.V decided to jump, hop run and learn climbing the stairs at this house.

We tried to match atleast our top/shirt's color :)

In morning we had breakfast at Driftwood Cafe downtown's famous breakfast place, they have all kind's of Omletes, tacos, nachos, pancakes and what not. They kept my toddler busy with color till I ate which was very sweet of them.

We ate at "The Bite" in downtown Incline village, its a Tapas style restaurant with amah-zing chicken sliders, yum yum,we couldn't suffice our tongue with one so we had two ;) Plus there was Chick-Pea(Chole) Indian style served with Quinoa and Lettuce a great pick for Indian Veggie Mom.
Mr.V found a beautiful friend sitting on the immediate next table and they both had fun interacting with each other.

Days at Tahoe go by so quickly that Mr.Simplyxstylish decided next time its going to be a month long vacation, ha ha ha only in my dreams ;)

So do visit Tahoe and dont forget to explore this beautiful beach.
Hope this post will be helpful for you the next time you plan your trip!! Have fun!!

Our Love - our getaway place!!

Day 1

Whenever we plan to take a break from work work work or just want to enjoy the nature the first place that comes to our mind is Lake Tahoe.
We have been to this place every season every year, and after my son was born we made sure he also could enjoy the beautiful beaches and absolute cold water there.

This place always feels so new every time we are there that we end up exploring new places, beaches, new food joint and revisiting some of the old ones too. In our recent getaway, my mom (who was visiting us) had a chance to see this place (though she was busy in little Mr. V's food and other details) but still it was a great break from the daily routine.

We booked a house in the heart of the city which was great to access beaches, restaurants and necessity stores.

Our first day was well spent at Camp Richardson, Emerald Bay at South Lake Tahoe
Little Mr. V was so fascinated by the beach and water that he did not want to come out of it.

  Happy Feet :D

This guy decided to embrace the cold water way too much and was hard to control as evident!!

All I need is to go in water daddy!! You cant stop me now ;)

We dined at My Thai, we visit it once always and love this place :) Their Hangover noodles are to die for.

This was our day one, hope you liked it. Please stay tuned for day 2.

P.s: This time I decided to stay behind camera and capture some special moments, hope you enjoyed :)

XO, Reena

My rainbow skirt

We all keep on looking for something new something bright to pop up our closet and with this increasing heat comes the need for bright and free fitting clothes so skirts come to  rescue.

I was in hunt for good skirt so as soon as I saw this one I had to buy it. Loved all the colors and the length of the skirt(imaging me twirling) plus it did not cause a hole in my pocket(less than $25).

Found this gorgeous piece while surfing and had to buy it, was not sure if it would be exactly like pictured, but liked it so-so much that could not resist and to my delight it is better than pictured and the material is not polyester, its beautiful soft cotton.

Kept it simple and paired it with my very old but versatile black tee, its a classic piece everyone should have to brighten or tone down the outfit. Got tons of compliments, win win!!
I wanted my skirt to get more attention so paired it with the beauty.

Kept it simple with gold jewellery and black heels(not pictured).

Unfortunately this skirt is unavailable right now but have linked many other similar lovely options.

skirt(similar) love this and this/ top(similar)/ earrings(similar)/ cuff (somewhere in Vegas).

Hope you liked this skirt and my pairing, please subscribe to receive direct updates and new blogs sent to you inbox.

Coco(nut) Cookies

Mr Simplyxstylish love of food(especially sweet) made me make beautiful wheat flour coconut cookies. I am not a great fan of processed flour so made these out of wheat flour than the regular all purpose flour(maida), some guilt free(not gluten free) indulgence with a cup of tea on a quiet summer evening.

Recipe:

A very simple - quick and delicious one

Ingredients:
Whole wheat flour -1 cup
Dark Brown sugar (can use light one too) -1/2 cup (I like less sweet, you can use 3/4 cup to add more sweetness)
Unsalted Butter -1/2 cup
Desicated dry coconut -1/2 cup
Raisins -1/4 cup
Whole Milk -1/4 cup(can vary depending on how dry the dough is)
Vanilla Extract - 1 1/2 tablespoon
Green cardamon powder -1/2 tablespoon
Baking powder -1/2 tablespoon
Baking Soda -1/4 teaspoon
Salt -1/4 teaspoon(omit if using salted butter)

Procedure:

1) Finely chop raisins.
2) Add dry ingredients- Wheat Flour, desicated coconut, chopped raisins, cardamon powder, baking powder, baking soda & salt. Mix well.
3) Preheat the oven at 350 F or 180 C
4) Now add unsalted (room temperature) butter, brown sugar, milk and vanilla extract. Mix well, now add dry ingredients and mix till no dry patch remains( do not knead). This mixture will be sticky.
5) Place rough balls or somewhat round balls on baking sheet and bake till they turn slightly golden and soft on outside, roughly 10 mins.
6) Let them cool on baking sheet for 10 mins and then place them on cooling rack till fully cool.

Note:
1) If adding dark brown sugar the color of the cookies will be on the dark side and lighter if light brown sugar used.
2) Add milk slowly as required, if you feel reduce the quantity, but the dough should be sticky for cookies to be soft.
3) Do not over bake them as cookies tend to become stiff as they cool.
