Happy Diwali!!

Happy Diwali everyone, hope it was full of sparkles, sweets and crackers!!

Diwali is God Laxmi's festival where every member of the house participate. They show their happiness by lighting earthen 'diyas' (lamps), decorating the houses, bursting firecrackers and inviting near and dear ones to their households for partaking in a sumptuous feast. The lighting of lamps is a way of paying obeisance to god for attainment of health, wealth, knowledge, peace, valor and fame.

It is one time in the whole year that Mr.Simplyxstylish volunteer to leave the bed long before the day begins. In fact, the traditional oil bath at 5 a.m, is the only chore that stands between him and the pre-dawn adventures. Diwali is never complete without light up of little oil lamps, candles and scented sticks(agarbathis), the wherewithal for setting alight crackers and sparklers.

Hope you had a great Diwali.. Now getting onto what I wore for Diwali and Dhanteras.

Preparing for festival season!!

All the festivals are making a round very soon its time to gear up with all the colorful and heavy sarees or dresses you have. I many a times shy away from heavy and bulk traditional pieces so I try to mix it especially the mix of colors which makes everything so festive.
Bringing out my look for KarvaChauth, I gathered this look in less than 10 minutes as I had clear idea of my ensemble. This is my no makeup look, all I had was a lipstick and kajal so if you don't have time just follow my tips.

Now first let me get to this look. This saree is an absolutely gorgeous and elegant at the same time, its a beautiful mix of colors and just has overall border which makes it easier to wear and handle especially with a toddler who needs to be carried around at times.

I bought this bhor for my wedding rituals and wore it for my Brother's wedding too, wanted to bring it out again as being in USA does not give me chance to wear Indian attire too much so I planned well and with a kid playing around I planned it in advance.

 After Puja pics!!

How to look gorgeous in just 10 mins:
1) Gather your outfit, jewelry, shoes and accessories well in advance.
This gives peace of mind plus if you dont like one thing you can change it rather than just being ok with it or running to see what suits at the last moment.
2) Visualize your look or if you have a look in mind work to complete it.
3) If you are short of time, work with all the things you have or if you have time go shopping for accessories.
4) Pack and keep all your accessories together along with your dress/saree.
5) Do not keep things till the very end cause it gives you stress and I don't want you to stress for dressing gorgeously :)

Happy dressing gorgeous :)

Frill showers

This past weekend California witnessed rain, though it was not much but we would accept anything right now in this drought state.
Rains definitely bring back memories of monsoon season that getting wet in the rain, sipping hot tea and pakoda(fritters). I miss rain very much :( :(

Anyways coming back to rain and windy weather, I chose to wear a simple basics but with a twist or rather frills ;) I am always about timeless basics with standout details, it just takes your attire to another level without too much  of effort, win win is my mommy life!!

This sweater is a  perfect layer for the cold days and not too hot as you definitely love to layer!!

I paired this clutch to make this look go as Indo-Western too, so do not shy away for making the look however you want!! Btw this clutch is only $7 ;)

Shop my outfit:
top / jeans / boots are old but love this/ purse is from Diwali Mela

Festivity style

Its Navratri and all of you must be in your highest spirit as its festival season with Dusshera followed by Diwali.
Nine days of ghat with garba and then Diwali in few weeks, it could be so stressful to decide what to wear, my suggestion don't shy away - take out your brightest season as its festival of lights. Gear up with big chunky or subtle jewellery what ever be your style and get ready to rock your look!!

Presenting my traditional look in which I cannot stop twirling!!
